This week the 4th graders at Waubesa are learning how to be Allies. We learned last week that Bullying Behavior is NOT normal and NOT okay. It is up to us to stop negative behaviors. After reviewing that bullying behavior is when mean behavior is done REPEATEDLY and ON PURPOSE to hurt someone, we had some time for self-reflection. Students were asked to reflect on their own behavior and to think about any behavior that might be seen as bullying. Then we talked about how we can change if we thought our behavior was not always positive. Each class was then given the opportunity to brainstorm what they could say and/or do if someone they knew was being bullied. This led us into our Big Idea for the lesson: How to be a Bully Buster.
B: Befriend/ Use kindness
U: Use distraction/humor
S: Stand up/Speak up

Students were split into groups and given a scenario to act out. They were also given one of the Bully Buster strategies to use. Each class had fun using their acting skills, and it was a fun way to show they understood the lesson.
